Je-Kyun Park is a professor of bio and brain engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). He also holds joint positions as an affiliated professor of the KAIST Institute for the NanoCentury and KAIST Institute for Health Science and Technology. He received his BS and MS from Seoul National University in 1986 and 1988, and PhD in biotechnology from KAIST in 1992. Before joining the faculty at KAIST, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the USA (1996 - 1997) and Chief Research Engineer at the LG Electronics Institute of Technology in Korea (1992 - 2002). He joined KAIST as an associate professor for the Department of BioSystems in 2002 and served as the Department Head of Bio and Brain Engineering (2006 - 2009). His expertise covers interdisciplinary areas of biotechnology, bioelectronics and bioMEMS, with special focus on biomolecular diagnostics, micro total analysis systems (μTAS), cell-based screening platforms, and biomedical devices. He served as an editorial board member of several international journals, including Lab on a Chip, Biosensors & Bioelectronics, and BioChip Journal. In addition, he served as Conference Chair of the μTAS 2015 Conference in Gyeongju and Committee member of several international conferences, including μTAS, ISMM, Transducers, and Eurosensors. He also served as Vice President of the Society of Micro and Nano Systems (2015), President of the Korean BioChip Society (2016), and Board of Director of the Chemical and Biological Microsystems Society (2015 - 2021). He is the co-author of 110 patents and more than 180 scientific papers in the field of integrative bioengineering, including nanobiotechnology & biosensor, bioMEMS for cell/tissue/organ chip, and lab-on-a-chip & microfluidic analytical technologies.
